JORGE CHAPA

Jorge Chapa, Inhabitat Contributing Writer, Inhabitat Writer
After finishing his architecture degree at the University of Monterrey in 2001, he realized that he wanted to focus on sustainable architecture, and knew nothing about it. Foolishly thinking that it would become important in fifteen years time, he packed up his suitcases, left Mexico and headed for Australia, where he studied a Masters in Design Science at the University of Sydney. During his time in Sydney he worked as an ESD consultant and product assessor, looking at everything from the thermal performance of a building, to the environmental impacts of a particular product. Currently working as an architect in Brisbane, he continues in his quest to learn what sustainability is and how to achieve it. He figures that it will take some time, but refuses to make any estimates.

Solamente te quería felicitar por pensar así y hecharle tantas ganas y poner el nombre de México y el de Mty en alto… Estoy muy interesada en todo lo sustentable, así que si podrias mostrarme proyectos que hayas hecho en especial en Mty te lo agradecería muchísimo.

Solo decirte que me siento super orgullosa de conocerte, y saber que aunque estes tan lejos estas poniendo el nombre de Monterrey, México y los que te conocemeos muy en alto, sigue asi por que yo se que vas a lograr grandes cosas!!!!

Dear Jorge,

I am very interested in your pictures taken of Willliam Kamkwamba’s windmill project in Malawi.
I am about to Produce a corporate video for the danish windmill pioneer Vestas Wind Systems A/S and we came across William’s project and think it is the perfect example of alternative energy innovation.
Could you please tell me if you have the pictures available in high resolution and how many images available.

I really enjoy your green blog. I am a fan of reading blogs focused on conservation, sustainability and eco-friendly topics, and I think they are really thriving online. This forum has been great for bloggers like yourself and supporters of eco-friendly ideas.

I thought you and your readers might be interested in a video we recently shot. It’s all about Hyper-Miling, a new sport that seems to be gaining a lot of momentum underground. The contestants use hybrid vehicles to get the best MPG. It’s a fresh approach, and I¹m happy to see people getting behind some positive trends. This is also a great example of “everyday green” ideas. They offer some good tips on increasing fuel efficiency and getting the most out of a tank. Posting this on your blog would be a great way to expose this idea to your readers and gauge their reactions.

Could you please tell me what is sustainable about Steven Holl’s proposal for the Hudson Yards?

The building’s do not look like sustainable architecture to me.

Mr. Chapa,
I am writing to see if a photo used in your article about cow poo power. It is the photo of the one brown cow head sticking up above the backs of the black cows. Is this photo under copyright? I wanted to ask permission to use it for the cover of a technical publication. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me!
