INHABITAT FEEDS

Those of you who subscribe to our RSS feeds might have noticed that we just cut our old feeds back to “excerpts”. Don’t fret loyal RSS readers - we are not abandoning you!

We have a new and improved feed that we have created through Feedburner. Using Feedburner allows us to keep statistics on our traffic as well as advertise a little bit (and thus pay our writers and keep Inhabitat going). So please migrate over to our new feed today. Just click on the bright orange FEED button in the upper right hand corner of Inhabitat, or simply cut and paste this url into your RSS reader:

I don’t mind ads at the bottom of articles — I realize you’ve got bills to pay — but what happened to the images? I pretty much only read websites like these via RSS, and without images, the feeds are nearly useless. Please reinstate them. Thanks.

Yes, rather a disappointment to get only text. I don’t mind the ads at all, but your excellent selection of images is what I read for.

Yes, without the images in the RSS feed, there is no reason for me to have it in my reader.. If I dont have it in my reader, I will come far less often, and eventually not at all when I forget the address.

P.s. I would be perfectly willing to accept extra-compressed “preview” images in the rss.. like, 4k instead of 30k.. Same dimensions, or at least 350×350 or above

This is a great site, it’s blown the mind of some creative people around here and given them inspiration. I don’t want to get to the point where I’m not reading it anymore, or even less than daily.

Just to reiterate the above… I love the posts on inhabitat. In fact, I’ll go one further: of all the architecture and ecology and design blogs I read, Inhabitat is my fave. that puts you ahead of some pretty tough competition.

That said, my prefered method of reading blogs is via rss, in my reader. Basically, the only time i ever click through to the site is when I feel compelled to leave a comment. which means, I’d really like it if you could feed the full text with images. Please?

I’ve pretty much dropped all the other blogs that once offered me full entry rss and then pared down… I can’t think of a good reason to force viewers to the blog as long as feedburner can provide you all the stats about readership that you need?

And ads are fine. I’ll even click them if google targets me well enough!

Anyway, congrats on putting together the best darn design blog out there, but please reconsider the full feed. I don’t see any comments above that are happy with the reduced version.

Hi Guys-

The missing image thing is just a problem with the feed - not something I did intentionally. Don’t worry, I’ll fix it ASAP!

well, for me - I get my news at work. And they have blocked feed burner. So - now my traffic to inhabitat will likely go down some.

Chad; Use the Google RSS Reader - that’ll read feedburner no problem

I read blogs by rss but click through to posts that interest me, rather than reading them in the aggregator. Ads in feeds are really offputting though. (I don’t usually even notice ads on the site.)

What I’d really like is an ad-free feed with excerpts just long enough for me to tell if I’m interested (mostly I come here for the prefab housing stuff). Titles-only is not quite enough info for that in many instances.
