WIRED on PREFAB

by Sarah Rich

Wired magazine has a great new piece on prefab in their latest issue. The article covers some of our favorite leaders in the prefab movement, including Michelle Kaufmann for her Glidehouse, Jennifer Siegel of Office of Mobile Design for her Take Home, Dwell’s prefab collection from Resolution 4 Architects, and Lovetann’s new modular home.

Also mentioned are the Wee House (pictured at right) and homes by Rocio Romero and Marmol Radziner. The last page provides prices, square footage and other practical details you might need when considering jumping on the prefab bandwagon.

Having long time interest in pre-fab/modern design - we were excited to see the new show at the walker art center on prefab … unfortunately we were a little let down with the depth of the show and the initial lecture which was poorly planned. That sad in the course of things we think we came up with a better word for this type of architectural design: “ModMod” or Modular Modern - as most of this stuff isn’t truely “prefab”.
