PLI FURNITURE FROM BANGDESIGN

There are two problems with talking about office chairs: 1.) they’re boring and 2.) Herman Miller’s already got them dialed. But every once in a while, an office furniture company comes along that begs not to be ignored. bangdesign’s office seating and tables for Formway not only stand out visually, they make a statement environmentally, emerging from a manufacturer that understands sustainability as part and parcel of a product’s entire lifecycle.
Formway actually appears to be Herman Miller’s Australasian cousin, right down to having designed a case study chair for evaluating and demonstrating sustainable principles in product design. They’ve considered not only materials, but also manufacturing waste, durability, ergonomics, disassembly and disposal.
To their practical considerations, bangdesign adds design zest. Clearly, the form and bold colors don’t typify office furniture - a welcome deviation from the standard. And bang keeps their eyes on eco-friendliness, too. The PLI Series uses plywood veneer from certified, managed forests and stainless steel (an infinitely recyclable material) for the legs. Upholsteries are CFC-free and use water-based foams.
PLI gets a stamp of approval for transcending the utilitarian aesthetic and designing eco-conscious, forward-thinking, good-looking office furniture. What more can we say?
