INHABITAT INTERVIEW: Michelle Kaufmann

by Sarah Rich

Michelle Kauffman Prefab House interview

Our last Prefab Friday article featured Michelle Kaufmann’s latest design, the mkSolaire. That same day, I had a chance to sit down with her at West Coast Green and ask her about her innovative green, modern, modular housing. Michelle has a very deep knowledge of the principles and practices that underlie the green building revolution, and a profound commitment to making green living accessible.

Excellent. More power to her. If only the big media would give the right exposure to Michelle and colleagues.

I wish I could buy a prefab from her but I live in Spain.

Came upon this page while working on a project for my grad class on Interactive Technology at SJU. My ppt. program is called - It’s Not Easy Being Green! It’s also very encouraging to hear that people like Michelle are thinking this way and trying to change home design for the greener good. Unfortunately , now I am dreaming about solar powered, green, energy efficient, self growing treehouses.
