Our last installment of Chris Burton’s “upcycled” furniture is his Stellation chair series, which is both simple in form and poetic in concept. Constructed from the abundant short wood cut-offs from construction sites, Burton repurposes an overlooked resource that would otherwise be discarded and sent to a landfill. The three chairs shown at his exhibition at Red Kite Studio are made from pine 2×4’s, heart pine, and a glue-laminated beam.

Really nice design ! Yes… it’s great that it’s recycled, but this design really engages regardless. It joins the Eames moulded plywood chairs in exclusive design company. Bravo ! P.S. A better occasional table design is required. The accompaning table in the photo doesn’t make it.
I must have got up on the wrong side today – but here goes…..the table is a joke for any grad level design student; those are not chairs, they’re stools (seat is too deep and hard edged, back too short and narrow) and as a reult they look like they are, heavy and uncomfortable. Eames league? gimme a break.
Dear David,
Maybe you should have stayed in bed. Everything looks great, but It’s the concept that’s really fantastic.
