MARIA HAMPRECHT’s SW° Solar Lamp

by Emily Pilloton

Maria Hamprecht, Solar Lamp, SW Lamp, Solar lighting, solar power lamp, photovoltaic lamp

With its simplified, silouhette-like form, soft glow, and ingenious function, Maria Hamprecht’s SW° Solar Lamp really does shine- metaphorically AND literally. Leave the “lamp” on a sunny window sill and let it absorb sunlight all day long; and come home to a lovely glowing lamp at night that has no need for plugs or electricity. Powered by an ultra-green combination of photovoltaic film and LED’s, Maria’s SW° prototype was part of her diploma thesis project, whose theme was the silhouette. The lamp’s simple form is, not surprisingly, inspired by the crisp shape of its shadow cast on a table.

No information about availability or price?

Also, I’m curious if the lamp can be turned off, or does it simply glow until it is out of energy?
