INHABITAT IS LOOKING FOR WRITERS

Inhabitat Help Wanted sign, Inhabitat looking for writers

Hey readers –
Any of you want to write for Inhabitat? We are currently looking for a few new correspondents to be our eyes and ears for green design around the world. Specifically, we are really looking for some new international writers to round out our US-based team. If you are in India, China, Japan, South/Central America or Africa, we want to hear from you. Interested?

Are you: a professional writer who knows a lot about green design, or a designer with excellent english-language writing skills, who can commit to writing at least one post a week? If you are, and if you’re passionate about sustainable design, we’d love to hear from you. In return you will receive a competitive per-post compensation, great experiences and networking opportunities in the world of green design, and good karma for life.

Interested? Send your resume and a cover letter to inhabitat at gmail.com

Zana Says:

Love to, but if you were to ask for my resume, you would see that I am not from any writing background :(

I’m from Malaysia by the way.

Emily Pilloton
Emily Says:

Zana- you don’t need a comprehensive writing background, necessarily, if you’re involved in green design and know how to write coherently/creatively. A lot of our writers are working designers or architects who are deeply involved in the industry and are also good writers. So please do send along your resume. Thanks!

Jill Fehrenbacher
Jill Says:

Hey Zana-

You don’t need to have a writing background as long as you know a bit about the green design space and can write well. Writing samples would help us assess this. You do need to enjoy writing, as this is the bulk of what we do.

Out of curiosity, is this a paid gig?

Cheers!

Emily Says:

rachel-

Yes, we do pay a per-post rate that won’t make you rich, but is very competitive within the blogging world. Beyond that, and maybe more importantly, you’ll get “great experiences and networking opportunities in the world of green design, and good karma for life.” Hope to hear from you.

Hi. I didn’t see Australia on your list but hope you might be interested in stories from here too. I write a weekly gardening column for a local newspaper as well as occasional pieces for the city broadsheet (The Age). I also work as a freelance nonfiction book editor (having worked inhouse as an editor for seven years). I’ve been a content manager and writer for a now defunct lifestlye website (back when they were called portals), and a magazine and website subeditor (including Aust Home Beautiful). All small fry for you I know, and from half a world away…

But there are some very interesting green projects happening in Melbourne. Despite the best efforts of our government Australians have a keen and creative interest in finding a new way to live. There are many stunning residential and industrial buildings that I think would be of interest to you. If not, maybe you’d like to have a contact here who can follow up things you’ve heard about. I’m happy to initiate stories or to write to a brief.

If you’d like to see copies of my work or need further information please contact me. I’d love to write for you.

Kind regards,

Kirsten Alexander

Hi everybody,

I love to participate on writing for Inhabitat.com. Right now I’m completing my degree in “Urban Planning” in Hamburg, Germany. As this page was quite informative and inspiring for me as a planner as well as an interested “future worker” like you, I’d love to give it back to you and to endorse it about urban themes.

Hello: I am architect from Montevideo , Uruguay (South America) and though here there´s not so many examples of green architecture around here (usually there´s the law that what is more eco friendly and has less maintenance costs, has usually more initial inversion, or need technologies or materials that are not developped in these areas, what clients not always understand or have the aim to follow). even though the major areas where is developped construction is Montevideo and the international seaside Punta del este, where I could find examples that fit your page and share with readers and colleagues, or find a way to fullfill your needs.
My best regards to all the inhabitat community,
Gabriela Pallares architect

Dear Inhabitat

First of all: congratulations on what I think is a brilliant website! I cannot contribute editorial as such, but have a suggestion. I am the editor of Built magazine, a South African b2b publication focusing on commercial architecture, construction, green industry/landscaping/town planning and interior design. Our readers are professionals within the respective industries. Should you wish to share editorial, suggestions, ideas and news, we can publish it and promote Inhabitat in SA. We are part of the Johncom group – one of the biggest media houses in the country.

Let me know!

Kind regards

Hi,

I am from Mumbai, India, and I think that this metropolis needs a heavy dose of green Inhabitat. The city was a concrete jungle once upon a time and is now evolving into a concrete monster gobbling up all open and green spaces.

I think that this metro could use a dose of Inhabitat, and as much I would like to contribute to your website, I think that it will be the other way round most of the time.

I was once attached to a movement known as grow more trees and we went on a tree planting spree in the only open space left in Mumbai which is Sanjay Gandhi National Park, however, the attempt was aborted half ways for want of resources and cooperation.

Also the person who had initiated it has left this world for a more heavenly abode, I am talking about Sidney D’Souza who was one of the pioneers in inspiring the movement.

I think that Mumbai could use more Solar power generation equipment as we have ample space on our roof tops to install hi tech solar power generation equipment, and save some electricity cost along with saving some serious green house gas emissions.

Coming back to contribution to your site, yes I would love to do so !!

Besides works about producing drinking water saving energy and dealing with water tank levels, I am really interested into environmental buildings, mainly applying bamboo as raw material. Last yeat we built two bamboo houses. If I was invited to write posts for this website, it would be a great honor and oportunity to tell the world how people from Brazil is finding ways to face global challenges. Hey, I only read the Inhabitat Crew post now, just after chaking my head to make these lines come out ! No problem, life goes on, see you next time, thanks.
