you are absolutely right. But you forgot that it is vice versa.
As far as I have found out Illu Stration was the first to come up with shag felt rugs. They were awarded with a number of Design Awards since 1999.

As far as I remember the Marqina rug is called fields of flowers and not Leafs??? Illu Stration has lots of leafy products. Coasters, tablemats etc. It seems that seems to obvious that you are a Nani Marqina fan.

So you will also find the latest rug SEAGRASS on Nani Marqinas website, (NEW 2007) which is an exact copy of TAGLIATELLE WILD, awarded IF DESIGN AWARD GOLD 2004 and still design patented in Europe. This should be evidence enough.

You should have noticed the big difference in quality – material-saving in felt. See the big spaces where there is no felt pieces/ flowers. See your photo. You should have taken a look at Illu Strations MALTAGLIATI felt rug at HAUTE GREEN. Thats the difference.

It is sometimes a good idea not only to look beyond the end of your nose but in fact to scrutinize the latter very closely.

Hey Richie-

We certainly did notice the similarities between the Art With Function drawers and Tejo Remy’s originally chest of drawers. It was doubly uncomfortable because we brought the original designer Tejo out from the Netherlands to see the show. We also saw a lot of questionable similarities at ICFF this year as well. (Hey Illu Stration vs Nanimarquina – we’re talking about your leafy rugs). However, after the outraged response we received over the 4Korners / Scrapile post, we decided to lay low and stop calling attention to this type of thing every time we notice it. We seem to be noticing it more and more frequently.

The Pirwi Red SAK Bookshelves are cool. They’re not just a bookshelves… they’re also modern sculture, all within one design. I checked their site for info, but found none. So I guess they’re new. It would be great if they slid together and easily slid apart for flatpak transport or for storage puroses (if they weren’t in current use). Is this the case ?

I liked the RD4 chair and Art With Functions ‘Chest of Drawers’ as well. Are the Art Wit Functions’ drawer modules adhered to each other in a fixed manner… or is it left up to the consumer to mix and match the modules as they wish ? Given the recent postings about Scrapile & 4Korners, I’m surpised to see that ‘Art With Functions’ get by without being criticized even though their design comes perilously ‘close’ to another design by a famous designer that was featuring in inhabitat not too long ago.

Love the Boontje lamp and the doily bowl. The doily bowl in particular has a nice DIY feel. Actually, I am going to do this myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
