CANDLE LIGHT BULB: Die Electric Candull

by Emily Pilloton

Die Electric, Die Electric Candull, Lightbulb Candle Design, Designer Scott Amron, Design for zero-energy consumption, Design against energy use

Just because your lamp requires lightbulbs doesn’t mean a candle won’t do the job just as well! Our last installment of the Die Electric collection is the cheeky and low-tech Candull candle-light, which replaces the common energy-sapping bulb with a low-tech yet equally functional candle. The candle is even adapted with a screw-base to fit directly into your desk lamp. Like the rest of Scott Amron’s Die Electric creations, Candull takes a wryly clever approach to energy efficiency, removing the energy entirely and replacing it with a dash of wit.

Out of curiosity, anyone know how much energy it takes to make a candle?

Wow… does this company have nothing better to do than create more unnecessary novelty products? This is a waste of wax and wick. Do they have a candle to replace my refrigerator bulb?

Although of course candles are a thousand times less efficient at creating light than an ordinary bulb. Nice visual gag though.

My back-of-the-envelope calculation says there’s about a kilowatt hour of energy in a 100g candle (assuming 42kilojoules per gram - thanks google). That’s enough to run a 100watt lightbulb for 10 hours…

I suppose if he finds ten idiots…. that will be $560 that he didn’t have before. It’s all about money.

I can’t answer your question but I know how much energy I spent reading about this moronic design concept

What a ridiculous post!
