The shrinkage this year has been shocking, but that's just information from satellites and doesn't give us the whole story. The thinning is probably much worse, but I can't find much information about this.
For a stunning image of the shrinkage, go to CarbonEquity.info and take a look at the graph on page five.
Al Gore certainly deserved the Nobel Prize. The only criticism I have of his film is that it doesn't show how bad things really are. But then, the data used to make the film are two years old, and we have learned much since then. Al Gore is still telling audiences that it's 'not too late to save the Polar Ice Cap,' and this simple isn't true.

I’m soliciting information as to the thinning, not shrinkage, of the Polar Ice Cap since the year 2000. Fact? Fiction? All I can say is I have become aware of becoming Carbon Neutral. http://carbonneutral.2truth.com

Mr Gore sparked discussion about the environment in venues where such topics were previously a non-issue.
