Faulty science, unrealistic targets that many including austrailia can not meet,all of the objectives are set on carbon dioxide why not the other green house gasses? we as the united states are not ready nor never will be ready to weaken this country to a competitive disadvantage. Whether George Bush is president or Al Gore, or Curious George, America would still use 25% of the world's energy. The kioto treaty was REJECTED during Clinton's term by a staggering 94-0-1 vote in the Congress. why?...because the kioto treaty dog piles on the United States. If we signed it, not only would all of the billions of dollars spent on research and economic analysis go to a complete waste, but our economy, and therefore half the world's economy would plunge into SEVERE depression. That means MILLIONS of people lose their jobs and cant get them back. Its in everyone's best interest, including everyone you guys disagree with, to go 'green.' Its just good business, and it wont be long before it becomes GREAT business. It hasnt taken technology long to take root in key locations throughout the country. There is a ton of momentum built up in America already, and the ball is starting to roll downhill faster and faster and faster. Unfortunately in America we still have King Bush who will not sign because he believes he has a better plan. Of course he is usually arrogant and thinks his plan is better than the rest of the world. So, it is unlikely until he is impeached or voted out that anything will change. Luckily I live in California which is the leading state to push for green and with the help of other states and many citizens are keeping the fire lit under this pitiful excuse for a President. While Canada is still a signatory to the Kyoto protocol, the Harper's Conservative government has no intention of trying to meet our obligations under the agreement. The Conservative environment minister, John Baird, is now in Bali trying to derail proceedings. Canada is currently mired in a sentiment of "I will if you will" with America, China and India. But this puts us in the unfortunate position that we won't do anything unless everyone is at the table. We cannot move forward with resistive politics like this.
