VIDEO: Hymini Portable Wind Charger

One of the biggest crowd-pleasers at our Greener Gadgets conference last month, we love this cute little portable renewable energy gadget and think you will too. Check out this video from Treehugger on the HYmini. We’ve covered the HYmini before here, but learning about the fab little device at Greener Gadges only made us love them more! We’ve seen wind generators before, but the HyMini takes wind power to a whole new portable level. This cute little personal wind turbine can be hooked up to various devices to charge your phones, cameras, and other small electronics when you are on the go: walking around, driving or even riding your bike.
Pretty cool product, but are we simply making/manufacturing more stuff/junk in the name of being GREEN? I suspect there is a lot of energy used to manufacture and transport this object all the way from its inception to the actual consumer. It’s definitely a hip product, most likely for an urbanite like myself, but it lost my attention when I read the FAQ and it stated you cannot replace the battery. It says to recycle? A GREEN company and product that most likely, and specifically, designed the product so you would have to buy a brand new one. Definitely a design flaw that will have to be paid attention to.
