Solar power is taking the world by storm, and these days its easy to find solar powered chargers, solar powered lights and solar powered laptop bags. So you know it was only a matter of time before someone came up with a solar power work table. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense – what better place to charge your gadgets with renewable energy than the table you are working at. The SOLo Lounge Table, by Intelligent Forms, is a sleek, chic outdoor table that not only looks fantastic, but comes with a built-in solar panel surface in order to power all of your electronic gadgets!

The SOLo Lounge table is made out of stainless steel for both the table shell and legs and tempered glass for the table top. The tempered glass panels sandwich silicon-based solar cells that turn the sun’s energy into 73 kilowatt hours of green power per year. It comes a variety of features and functions including a USB, lighter and 3 electrical outlets to power all your gadgets. And, during the night, internal LEDs embedded in the table give a nice soft glow.

I do not know if I like it. Surely the table would get REALLY hot, minimizing it functionality until it cooled down, right?

Sure sexy-woman-with-laptop makes one think it is a great idea, but I cannot really think of any reason to purchase it for use as a table.

This table looks like fun! Surely it’s not a total solution for all our problems, but most coffee tables spend most of their time standing around absorbing light; they might as well be converting it into juice.

This seems like a really cool concept, and then you get to the price…$14,000. Look I know American currency is going to crap, but this solar panel is not worth 14 grand. This is why our planet is doomed to fail. Good inventions come out, but then these jerks want to charge you 12 grand more than what its worth. No one except for rich morons with too much money on their hands will buy this, but I guess they don’t care just as long as they make money, forget saving the planet.

Only $14,000! Take off 2 zeros and I want it.

most of the work is done indoor. How come the solar panels get charged?? Doesn;t make sense atleast with the available info.

Unfortunately, this won’t actually work. Solar panels are made from many individual cells wired in series. When any individual cell doesn’t receive light, it exhibits a high resistance, thus negating power output from the entire panel.

Believe it or not, there is a *reason* solar panels are mounted on the roof or away from anything that could shade them….

Wouldn’t it be better to have the top flip up and be angled toward the window and have a work surface underneath?

Unfortunately, your information is out of date.
