There is a very kool gallery in Venice, California (on Abbot Kinney – the absolute hands down best area in Los Angeles) called Altered Space. They have jewelry made from recycled tires (also from Brazil) that is awesome. Also, they have Todd Reed who uses recycled 18Kgold and ethically mined diamonds (he buys directly from an Austrailian mine) and his rings are amazing. check it out at http://www.AlteredSpaceGallery.com. its all a bit, well, dollar-store -ish

on the other hand, its better than the slavery used to get diamonds out of the ground, perhaps this is a craft of the future.
