Comments on: Planet Green’s GREENSBURG docu-series premieres June 15th!

I totally have lived in Wichita, KS for the past 19 years, and when i first heard about greensburg being hit i was like sucks to be them. But now its gotta be fawking tight to be them because of this new green economy thing they are building for them, and their city is already so aptly named Greensburg.

I have been watching the show, and I do not understand what is green about the town as they are building. All of the houses that they show going up are not any different environmentally or efficiently different than normal houses that aren’t green by any means. I have seen five episodes now and have not seen any green innovations.

Nick, Zero is so right. My grandparents(both parents side) were all from that area. In fact, their house, a couple miles south of Greensburg was hit and destroyed. I have cousins that rebuild there after considering alternatives for a while, and believe Greensburg will flourish if businesses rebuild.I think the town needs employment opportunity to keep the young people there. This \’Green\’ thing is great and has many financial possibilities for the residents. I have many memories there and it would break my heart to see the town dissolve!
If anyone from Greensburg reads this,I have one suggestion. Build a good restaurant, please!!!!

Nick, Greensburg was slowly getting smaller but a major reason of this is because most of the residents were elderly and the young residents didn’t have anything to really go back to. With the new look towards things they believe that there will be things to move back to Greensburg for. Actually one of the residents suggested that Greensburg go Green.
(I am a resident of Greensburg to help clarify the accuracy of my information)

i’m glad to see that greensburg is getting back on their feet. i started to get a little nervous a few weeks ago when we had our rash of tornadoes in kansas/ oklahoma and there was an extremely large tornado headed straight for greensburg … again! almost a year to the day and they had a tornado heading for them again. luckily enough it veered off shortly before it got there..

In the past has this city grown or shrunk? If it’s shrinking then is it worth pumping all this money into a dying town. I am from a small town and know what it’s like. The idea is nice and the town name goes great with the idea. I hope it’s not just a publicity stunt for “planet green”.

It’s great to see the town coming together to rebuild and actually make it better than it was before. I do wonder if they are building far more underground so they’ll have something left if another twister comes their way.
