It was built back in the Carter administration and is just sitting there in the desert. It uses focused sunlight bounced from mirrors onto a solar boiler which in turn heats liquid sodium to produce steam to drive turbines. I have driven by it and it seems to be intact just not up and running, why? Why hasn’t the state, or PG&E turned on the Solar power plant in Barstow, Ca?
