Every year, Peugeot launches a contest call for entries from the international design community to showcase their talents in a concept car showdown. The theme for this year’s contest requested that they imagine a Peugeot in the megalopolis of tomorrow, and by the looks of the entries, (such as the Stylight above), they definitely delivered. If you think that you’ve seen concept vehicles, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Concept vehicles are always a showcase for designer prowess and these are no exception. The vehicles range from one-seaters to the typical family car. They are small, tall, wide, flat, bubbly, aerodynamic and sometimes simply wildly eccentric. But if there is one thing in common is that all of them see green not as a feature, but as a standard. Gone are the times where having an electric motor was an amazing feature in concept vehicles - in fact, based on this year’s crop, you’d be hard pressed to find one which doesn’t take into consideration its impact on the environment.

So What will the car of the future look like? According to the finalists for the 5th Peugeot Design Contest the vehicles will all feature a combination of smart design, green features, and an incredible amount of creativity.

The Stylight resembles the ZAP Alias a bit.

Wow! The Peugot Galapagos has a huge potential. It has some shapes that easily could have been used on supercars. Then I’m thinking about a car with those shapes I can’t tell because of my future education =p

But I would probably bought that “Maglev-Car”(Peugot Facile) on picture number 2 if it had 2 seats next to each other an was lower.

Please, please be a little bit more realistic; I am sure it would look more beautiful.
