by Alexandra Kain

Transforming factory floor leftovers into cutting-edge sustainable fashions, Paula Vidal pieces together unwanted textile bits for her debut line, AbsolutoFieltro. A recent textile design graduate from the University of Valparaiso in Chile, Paula repurposes discarded wool, felt, and second-hand fabrics into a cozy collection of vests and capes, shoes and tote bags.

Paula spent five semesters at architecture school before switching over to eco-fashion, and her training is readily apparent in the rigid structure and calculated lines of that hold these scraps together. Her couture line is composed of extra-thick rolls of wool or felt that are stretched, snipped, and sewn for durable, long-lasting couture, while her shoes are designed on request and made from vintage dresses and thrift-store finds.
