Innovative Bike Racks Unveiled in NYC

Recently a fresh crop of innovative bike racks sprung up at Astor Place in New York, and Core77 was on the scene to document the affair with some great photos! The 10 racks on display were selected as finalists in the CityRacks Design Competition, which issued an international challenge to re-think the hum-drum bike racks interspersed throughout our city streets as opportunities for public art and the promotion of bicycle awareness.

Peugeot is just one of the companies currently showcasing their latest and greatest at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. One of our favorites offerings from this year’s offerings is the Hymotion 3 concept vehicle, which facilitates urban mobility by bridging the gap between an electric scooter and a car. The lean small-framed vehicle has a maximum speed of 70mph and gets an incredible 118mpg.

LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL: Zoe Murphy Upcycled Furniture

Young British design graduate Zoe Murphy is a rising star we discovered at this month’s TENT London design exhibit. Inspired by her seaside home of Margate, Zoe has created a collection of fabulous bespoke furniture and textile pieces. Zoe exhibited her ‘Margate Collection’ during this year’s London Design Festival, at ‘talentzone’and TENT London and was chosen as one of Dezeen’s most talented design graduates of 2008.
