Here at Inhabitat, we have a soft spot for all things green. But we have to make an exception for this rather colorful “Christmas tree” that took center stage on the ground floor reception at communications agency, AMV BBDO throughout the month of December. The rescued dead tree was given new life with the help of graphic designer Alex Ostrowski and illustrator and set maker Hattie Newman who thought to embellish the branches with colorful paper leaves.

The tree at AMV BBDO was inspired by the success of a similar tree installation at YCN Live, an event that featured emerging creative talent back in late August through early September 2008 at the Village Underground. Alex and Hattie worked together with Hackney Borough Council to engage visitors with a resurrected tree from East London. Those at the event were invited to embellish the tree’s branches with colorful paper. They also invited everyone to use their own creativity and write or draw on the paper before placing it on the tree!
