Reclaimed Factory Cart Table from Restoration Hardware

by Bridgette Meinhold, 03/19/09

restoration hardware, factory cart, reclaimed wood table, green design, sustainable design, recycled materials, green furniture

We love this early 1900’s vintage factory cart, which was once used to transport furniture, fabrics and supplies around a factory floor. Restoration Hardware has restored these fabulous white oak carts and their cast iron hardware for use as a coffee table. The wheels still function, so perhaps you could still use it help transport heavy objects.

We ordered from RH and the cart that came had a board that was a new “simulated” replacement boards nailed to the cart among the old original boards. We notified them and were told we could return for a complete refund. We ordered a second, and it came even worse than the first. Now RH is claiming they need more info to process our original return after telling us it was in the works. We’re stuck with 2 unsatisfactory carts at $300 more than we could have paid had we known other places had them. (Napa Style also has them) Unless RH comes through for us this will be our last purchase from them.

i’ve had one like this for years but mine has the stake pockets in the corners, it works well to attach a light to above the table. Wheels are nice the only oddity about using it is that alot of these carts are made so the end wheels sit higher making the whole thing want to tip. i’ve also got a really nice two wheeled dolly table i made by laying the dolly down and putting a found marble fire place hearth stone as the surface.
