I’ve personally test-riden an A2B, and it’s a very nice bike. But it’s extremely expensive! There are a wide variety of other options out there, and most are well below the $2500+ price tag of the A2B. Some are $499 or lower. Check out http://www.eco-wheelz.com for a variety of other options.

Cameron and Haywillhay…just to point out that an electric bike does have more of a footprint then regular bikes, but offers a great trade off in what I call SubUrban \”Short Trips\” – there is a positive impact in reduction of greenhouse gases when you use your electric bike ( that still allows you to pedal when you want to without using the motor) on short trips to the store, or other errands. Yes you might think that you won\’t get in shape with an electric motor – but not true…you tend to ride longer when there is an assist – we find our riders now ride recreational for 4 to 5 hours a day with the combination of electric and pedaling…and when they had just the normal bike, on rec rides…they would be 1 to 2 hours max. Anything to keep someone out of the car is always a plus. Plus in our store we about to give offsetting carbon credits for the only thing an electric bike will do, is harm to the environment (after 5 years or so) is when the battery needs to be replaced. Biking no matter what type is beneficial and rewarding for the individual – for the family, the community and the environment – Human Transport…so as someone who now sells electric bikes http://www.iBikeElectric.com and Carbon Fields for waste to energy through bio mass on degradable and marginal lands…I give electric and regular bikes a big Plus for reducing Greenhouse gases and getting people out of their Hybrids and SUV\’s. – Regards – Ron

..couldn’t agree more. Electric bikes are a step backwards in terms of sustainability and healthy living. get out and exercise for real, sitting on an electric bike doesn’t count.

Electric bikes are a waste! Riding an ordinary bicycle helps you keep healthy and reduce your environmental impact at the same time. Adding an electic motor defeats the purpose entirely, especially if the electricity is produced in a coal power plant. You might as well drive a hybrid SUV.
