As designers and thinkers gather at this week’s BKLYN Designs and next week’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair, we are reminded that cities, especially New York City, are a place of inspiration and experimentation for design. The issue of sustainability has challenged some to re-tool their methods, while others have always infused their work with eco-consciousness. In dense urban environments where space is scarce and expensive, we see that innovative designers and artists constantly seek new ways to express their reflections on how we currently live and how we might live in the future.
