The Timberland Company, known for it’s environmental stewardship and consistent ranking as one of America’s best companies to work for by Fortune and Working Mother Magazine, has just opened a new sustainable store at 474 Broadway in NYC. The sleek interior and ample use of reclaimed wood make for an inviting and earth-friendly shopping experience.

The new Timberland store at 474 Broadway has gone whole hog with green building strategies, and was built with reclaimed wood, salvaged brick and other recycled and environmentally friendly materials. And because a healthy shopper is a good shopper, non-VOC paints and efficient lighting are both used throughout.

The interior is a classy departure from the normal shoe shopping experience of plastic veneers and TV screens. Stop in at 474 and check out some of their Earthkeepers selection of footwear that are made with recycled rubber soles, organic canvas linings and leather from a silver-rated tannery.
