Sanjay Puri Architect’s new Chrome Hotel features a fresh façade punctuated with holes that allow natural light to stream in while keeping air-conditioning costs to a minimum. The opaque windows were purposefully set throughout the swiss cheese façade to allow ambient natural light to enter, and they also create an incredibly cool effect at night when backlit by LED lights.

The Chrome Hotel features a number of concrete fins throughout the building that do double duty, acting as a heat barrier while adding privacy for guests. Between the windows and the fins, the hotel’s design is able to cut air conditioning cost by 25%, proving that low-tech energy saving solutions can fit within in an incredibly sleek package.

Elemental LED staff

And let’s not forget that the LED light they’re using is saving a bundle of energy, too. LEDs are 10 times as energy-efficient as incandescents, and up to twice as efficient as fluorescents. And, most importantly, they come in blue! Cool!
