Samsung Unveils Green Phone Made From Corn

The ReclaimSamsung and service partner Sprint’s newest green phone – has innovative features that go beyond the bare bones that similar products like Motorola’s W233 Renew phone offers. This eco-conscious smart-phone is 80 percent recyclable and made mostly of corn-based bio-plastics, but that’s not all this compact phone has up its green sleeves.

One outing that will definitely be on my agenda the next time I’m in New York City is to visit the third Triennial exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. On view now through July 29, 2007 Design Life Now demonstrates how design permeates every aspect of contemporary life and showcases the best in experimental design and emerging ideas at the center of American culture from 2003 to 2006.

SMARTWRAP: Interactive Building Film

On display at the Cooper Hewitt back in 2003, Smartwrap is a thin plastic film designed to envelop a building, acting as a multi-tasking, intelligent wall. Smartwrap integrates the currently segregated functions of a conventional wall and combines them into one crazy high-tech composite. It insulates, stores energy, and digitally regulates temperature, as well as providing and controlling light. Users can program different panels to light up, display an image, or switch from transparent to opaque as needed.
